There are three categories that any hemp-derived CBD product can fall in: full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate. Each category has its own set of pros and cons, providing a more appropriate option for certain demographics. If you’re starting a CBD business and looking into buying CBD wholesale, it’s important to know the difference between these three types.
Full-Spectrum CBD Products
Full-spectrum products are meant to mimic the full chemical makeup of the hemp plant. That means that these products will include CBD alongside other naturally-occurring cannabinoids and terpenes. Basically, all of the plant matter found in hemp should be in that product. Full-spectrum products will always contain THC but at the legal limit of 0.3% or less. Full-spectrum products are hypothesized by researchers to work better due to the complete synergy between all cannabinoids and terpene content. Please be aware that full-spectrum products can trigger a positive in drug testing due to its minimal THC content.
Broad-Spectrum CBD Products
Broad-spectrum products are meant to mimic the full chemical makeup of the hemp plant minus the THC. That means that these products will include CBD in addition to all the other naturally-occurring cannabinoids and terpenes but with the THC purposely removed. Broad-spectrum products are characterized by zero THC content. Broad-spectrum products are hypothesized to work better than CBD isolate but not as well as full-spectrum products. Broad-spectrum products are ideal for those seeking full cannabinoid therapy without the risk of ingesting THC.
CBD Isolate Products
CBD isolate products have been engineered to the point of 99+% purity. The CBD molecule is completely isolated, meaning no other cannabinoids or terpenes are included. Some companies do add terpenes to their CBD isolate products for custom formulations. CBD isolate has the same value as the CBD found in broad-spectrum and full-spectrum products but doesn’t expose individuals to other naturally-occurring cannabinoids and terpenes. CBD isolate may be more suitable for certain applications and individuals.
